Most travel eSIM connection problems come from a small set of settings. Work through them in order before deleting the eSIM profile.

Start with the active SIM settings

Confirm that the travel eSIM line is turned on and selected for mobile data. On dual-SIM phones, it is easy to leave the primary SIM selected for data by mistake.

  • Travel eSIM line enabled.
  • Travel eSIM selected for mobile data.
  • Mobile data enabled on the phone.
  • Primary SIM data switching configured the way you expect.

Check data roaming on the travel eSIM

Travel eSIMs often connect through roaming partner networks, so data roaming may need to be enabled on the travel eSIM line. This is separate from roaming on your home SIM.

Refresh network registration

Toggle airplane mode for a short period, then turn it off and wait for the phone to register. If needed, restart the phone. Automatic network selection is usually the best first setting unless the plan instructions specify a particular network.

Check APN only when necessary

Many eSIM profiles configure the APN automatically. If the eSIM shows signal but mobile data still does not work, compare the APN with the plan instructions before changing anything. Avoid copying an APN from a different provider.

Do not delete the profile as a first fix

Some eSIM profiles are single-install. Deleting the profile can turn a simple settings problem into a reinstallation problem, so verify the line, data, roaming, network and APN settings first.

Common questions

Frequently asked questions

Why does my eSIM show signal but no internet?

The data SIM selection, data roaming or APN may be wrong even when the phone has registered on a network.

Should I reinstall the eSIM if it does not connect?

Not as the first step. Check settings and network registration first because some eSIM profiles cannot be installed again after deletion.

Next step

Continue from the guide to the right plan

Compare destination, data allowance and validity, then use the included Stellar VPN when you want the additional network-privacy layer.
